The call of the hills

Looking down on the Cluanie Inn.

There’s always positive anticipation at the start of a new season. With it comes the preparation to be hill-fit. I had a week up north doing a book tour alongside climbing some hills I hadn’t previously ventured up. Here is a snapshot of those days.

On top of Knockfarrell, Dingwall.

My favourite vistas are hills set off by wide open expanses.

The Drumochter Pass is a bit dull from the road, but up above ….

I love the hills at this time of year and find the winter colours and textures probably at their very best for me. The weather is very changeable too, causing rainbows.

One of the most vivid rainbows I’ve seen.

Kintail Hills with remnants of winter.

Always a bonus to find a waterfall en route to the summit
